The Gnomekins Story

Everyone has to start somewhere and every creation tells a humble story.

Hi 👋 my name is Doreen, the creator and visionary of Gnomekins.  In 2014, the idea of pocket gnomes was born from my love for these whimsical little beings and the desire to carry a bit of their charm everywhere I went. What started as a simple idea grew into a heartfelt passion for creating tiny, woolly treasures.

As a self-taught felter, I pour care and creativity into every piece, shaping each gnome by hand using 100% high-quality wool. Each one is unique, made to bring a smile and a sense of wonder to its new owner.

No fancy crafting studio here—just me, my round dining table, and a whole lot of love 💕 I spend my weekends and evenings felting between meals, while being present for my family.

Our oldest helped make the 🌟 star pouch, our youngest felted Gnomekin bodies (and sometimes their hats!), and my husband winds yarn 🧶 balls for Scenic Bowls while watching TV—and he is the hero who gets your orders to the post office.

Running a small business alongside a full-time job takes a village. But this little venture brings me joy, letting me share wonder while escaping into a creative, enchanting space beyond the hustle and bustle. 

At the beginning of 2025, a dear friend inspired me to create Scenic Bowls—a special way to showcase my gnomes in their own little worlds. My favorite to felt these days is the cloud 9 ☁️ bowl —free from the bounds of shape or size. I simply let the needle dance, guiding the wool wherever it wishes to drift. The bowls are made of wood, and each gnome is carefully secured with a star-shaped ⭐️ sewing pin made of metal and plastic. These Scenic Bowls are a charming addition to my collection, designed to bring even more enchantment to your space.

Every piece I make is crafted with love ❤️ and attention to detail, creating keepsakes that spark imagination 💫 and remind you to find joy 🥰 in the little things. Whether it’s a pocket-sized friend or a scenic display, my creations are tiny wonders ready to brighten your day.
